A Benefit Concert Reading of Simeon's Gift
- Monday, July 30, 2007 7:00 PM

Join us for a magical evening when we present a special Benefit Concert Reading of "Simeon's Gift", narrated by Julie Andrews on Monday, July 30 at 7 pm at The Whalers Church in Sag Harbor.

The first event in Bay Street's Family Theatre Iniative, "Simeon's Gift" is an original new musical for family audiences adapted from the best-selling book by Julie Andrews Edwards and Emma Walton Hamilton. Immediately following the concert there will be a talkback with the authors.

The Benefit Concert will be narrated by beloved film and stage actress Julie Andrews, with music by Academy Award winner Ian Fraser and lyrics by acclaimed songwriter John Bucchino. "Simeon's Gift" is directed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge (Bay Street: The Who's Tommy, Hair, Once On This Island) and will receive a full production at Bay Street this Thanksgiving followed by a subsequent national tour.

"Simeon's Gift" (Harper Collins 2003) is a "blindingly gorgeous" (Kirkus Reviews) picture book by Julie Andrews Edwards and Emma Walton Hamilton, illustrated by award-winning artist Gennady Spirin. It premiered on the New York Times Bestseller List in 2003 and was voted "CHILD Magazine Best Book of the Year". Some of Gennady Spirin's original artwork will be available for sale during the evening of the Concert Reading with a portion of the proceeds donated to Bay Street.

Tickets for the Simeon's Gift Benefit Concert Reading are $100 for adults and $25 for children (up to 12 years of age).
