| The song, "Your Crowning Glory", was the first time Julie Andrews had sung in public or on screen since she had throat surgery in 1997. She reportedly nailed the song on the first take, and brought tears to the eyes of the crew present. The song was specifically written to match Julie's voice so she could do it, it was agreed between Julie and Garry Marshall that if she didn't like the final result the song would cut off from the movie. "It's a very sweet little song and it was very specially written to kind of cope with my voice," she explains. "It's pitched very low, and I actually talk it more than sing it. I don't want the audience to think that I am back singing because I'm not -- Alas." |

| Julie Andrews loves fresh flowers, and convinced Garry Marshall to use only real flowers in the arrangements inside Renaldi Castle. During the filming, she was constantly adjusting the arrangements, removing dying blossoms, etc. The centerpiece of the kitchen table (in the scene where Nicholas tops his chocolate mousse) got switched from a large piece (as seen in the background) to the cluster of small flowers seen in the final cut - the original arrangement got in the way of the filming. |

She's practical, very down-to-earth, but slightly eccentric. She is a very good monarch in that she cares so much for her country and its people, but she's also slightly sneaky, and perhaps a bit naive and innocent in some ways." |
